When cops Schmidt and Jenko join the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover as high school students. They trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, and set out to shut down a dangerous drug ring. But, as time goes on, Schmidt and Jenko discover that high school is nothing like it was just a few years earlier -- and, what's more, they must again confront the teenage terror and anxiety they thought they had left behind.

21 Jump Street is widely regarded as an energetic and successful subversion of the buddy-cop genre, anchored by the unexpected chemistry between its leads. While some viewers criticize its reliance on crude humor and predictable tropes, most praise its ability to consistently deliver laughs and elevate a basic premise.

Acting Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum display exceptional comedic chemistry that anchors the film's chaotic energy.
Pacing The film features a lively, fast-paced tone that succeeds as a crowd-pleasing comedy despite the lack of a complex narrative structure.
Humor Opinions on the humor are divided; many find the subversively witty and profane writing to be hilarious, while others argue the reliance on vulgarity and crude tropes is tired and grating.
Screenplay The screenplay is viewed by many as a refreshingly sharp take on high-school movie cliches, though detractors feel it leans too heavily on a predictable and unoriginal plot.
Ending The film's tone shifts abruptly from a lighthearted comedy to a violent, bloody climax, which some viewers find jarring while others enjoy as part of the chaotic experience.
