Key opinion
47 Meters Down: Uncaged is generally viewed as a mediocre, derivative survival thriller that fails to capture the tension of its predecessor. While some viewers appreciate the claustrophobic setting and popcorn entertainment value, most critics and audiences find the plotting illogical, the performances weak, and the CGI inconsistent.
| Screenplay | The screenplay relies on illogical character decisions and a formulaic slasher structure that undermines the potential for survivalist tension. | |
| Acting | The acting is widely considered unengaging and unremarkable, with many noting that the cast fails to elevate the thin character development. | |
| Production | The CGI for the sharks and underwater environments is inconsistent, with many reviewers finding it visually inferior to the first film or previous genre staples. | |
| Production | The setting of the submerged Mayan labyrinth provides a unique, claustrophobic atmosphere that some find effective for a one-time viewing, while others argue it is underutilized. | |
| Emotion | The film functions as a passable, light popcorn flick for undemanding viewers, but shark-horror enthusiasts generally find it lacking in scares and originality. |
