Key opinion
A Haunted House is a divisive parody that relies heavily on crude, vulgar humor and the charismatic performance of Marlon Wayans to mock horror tropes. While some viewers find it to be a nostalgic, antidepressant-like comedy, others criticize it for being a tasteless, plotless experience that fails to match the quality of its predecessors.
| Acting | Marlon Wayans anchors the film with an energetic, charismatic performance that serves as the movie's primary highlight. | |
| Originality | The film effectively parodies the found-footage conventions and specific plot points of the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise. | |
| Humor | The humor is polarizing, ranging from sharp, nonstop laughs to offensive, nausea-inducing, and overly vulgar content. | |
| Pacing | The comedic momentum is uneven, with the narrative often feeling strong in its setup but dragging or collapsing toward the second half. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is viewed by some as a successful return to form for the parody genre, while others dismiss it as a lazy, offensive, and plotless mess. |
