Key opinion
After Yang is a contemplative, visual meditation on memory, family, and the definition of humanity through the lens of an android companion. While praised for its aesthetic beauty and profound philosophical questions, viewers are deeply divided on whether its slow, meditative tempo is emotionally resonant or merely lethargic and thin.

| Theme | The film explores complex themes regarding the nature of memory, identity, and what constitutes a human connection. | |
| Pacing | The slow, static pacing is either viewed as a hypnotic, meditative asset or a flaw that disrupts immersion and makes the story feel underdeveloped. |
