Key opinion
Analyze That is widely considered an unnecessary, profit-driven sequel that lacks the narrative cohesion and sharp wit of its predecessor. While the chemistry between Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal remains a reliable draw for loyal fans, the film suffers from a derivative script and a tonal shift that turns the formerly menacing Paul Vitti into a cartoonish parody.
| Acting | The returning cast of Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal provides a familiar, watchable dynamic that serves as the film's primary saving grace. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is largely viewed as a weak, derivative effort that fails to justify the film's existence by retreading old ground. | |
| Acting | De Niro’s performance marks a divisive shift; some appreciate the chaotic, comedic energy, while others feel it strips the character of the genuine menace that made the original compelling. | |
| Humor | The film’s humor is inconsistent, oscillating between funny, inspired moments and a general struggle to maintain the freshness of the first installment. | |
| Pacing | Opinions on the overall narrative structure are split: some find it a light, relaxing continuation, while others see it as a disjointed collection of sketches lacking a unified vision. |
