Key opinion
Apex is widely criticized as a low-budget, poorly executed iteration of 'The Most Dangerous Game' that relies on shallow action and incoherent plot points. While a small minority finds the film's gritty premise or parody-like absurdity engaging, the general consensus views it as a disappointing, derivative project that fails to utilize its cast effectively.
| Originality | The film functions as a hollow, low-quality iteration of the classic 'The Most Dangerous Game' premise. | |
| Screenplay | The script features puerile dialogue and severely underdeveloped characters that render the narrative illogical. | |
| Production | Production values are severely limited, characterized by cheap CGI and a repetitive single-forest setting. | |
| Acting | Performances are hindered by apathetic acting and the heavy use of body doubles, leaving Willis and McDonough unable to salvage the material. | |
| Humor | Opinions on the film's tone are split: some find it a tedious, plotless failure, while others interpret the absurdity and low-budget aesthetic as a unintentional or unique form of parody. |
