Key opinion
Autopsy (2008) is widely regarded as a low-budget, gore-heavy slasher that relies on visceral shock value rather than narrative substance. While some viewers appreciate its gritty atmosphere and effective practical effects, others find the plot nonsensical, the characters underdeveloped, and the tonal shifts between horror and attempted dark comedy frustrating.
| Production | The film features exceptionally brutal and inventive gore effects that satisfy fans of visceral body horror. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is consistently criticized for being predictable, illogical, and lacking a coherent narrative arc. | |
| Acting | Performances are generally viewed as amateurish or mediocre, with only minor exceptions like Jessica Lowndes and Robert Patrick receiving notice. | |
| Pacing | Opinions on the film's structure are divided: some appreciate the unique, dark clinical atmosphere, while others feel the pacing is stretched and unevenly handled. | |
| Ending | The ending remains a point of contention, with some viewers finding it a standout, memorable conclusion and others dismissing it as illogical or confusing. |
