Key opinion
Birth is a polarizing, atmospheric psychological drama that centers on a provocative premise regarding reincarnation and grief. While it is widely praised for Nicole Kidman’s powerhouse performance and its unsettling, hypnotic tone, audiences remain deeply divided over its pacing, the ambiguity of its narrative, and the ultimate satisfaction of its ending.
| Acting | Nicole Kidman delivers a masterful, soul-focused performance that anchors the film’s emotional weight. | |
| Acting | Cameron Bright provides an unsettling and convincingly mature portrayal that effectively challenges the adult characters. | |
| Production | The film utilizes a cold, barren visual aesthetic and an immersive atmosphere to mirror the protagonist's internal struggle. | |
| Pacing | The contemplative, slow-burn pacing is seen by some as a necessary artistic choice for a psychological study, while others find it dull and tedious. | |
| Ending | The ambiguous, open-ended climax is hailed by some as a profound and realistic conclusion, while others dismiss it as an illogical or unearned resolution. |
