Key opinion
Bridget Jones's Baby is widely regarded as a sincere and charming, if predictable, return to form that benefits from the established chemistry between Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth. While fans of the franchise appreciate its nostalgic warmth and humor, critics are divided over the thinness of the plot and the tonal shifts compared to the original entries.
| Acting | Renée Zellweger effectively captures an older, more mature version of Bridget that maintains the character's core relatability. | |
| Acting | The supporting cast, particularly the talented actors in minor roles, feels underutilized and lacking in meaningful screen time. | |
| Screenplay | The central love triangle provides a functional and lighthearted structure, though many find the premise of uncertain paternity to be a stale narrative device. | |
| Runtime | The two-hour runtime creates a polarizing effect, where some viewers find the tempo brisk and engaging while others find it unnecessarily long and prone to disinterest. | |
| Acting | Opinions on the lead actors' aging and cosmetic appearance are sharply split between those who see it as a natural, authentic evolution and those who feel it creates a disconnect with the original character. |
