Key opinion
Cannibal! The Musical is a cult trash masterpiece that serves as an essential, raw debut for Trey Parker and Matt Stone. While its student-film roots and genre-defying absurdity limit its mass appeal, its witty songs and black humor create a uniquely entertaining experience for fans of the creators' later work.
| Originality | The film functions as a foundational precursor to the South Park style, showcasing early motifs and the creative chemistry between Trey Parker and Matt Stone. | |
| Score | The songs feature clever, darkly comedic lyrics that act as the primary highlight of the musical experience. | |
| Humor | The integration of Troma-style gore and black humor effectively creates a distinct, non-banal comedic atmosphere. | |
| Pacing | The production exhibits signs of a student debut, with some scenes feeling repetitive or narratively stagnant. | |
| Accessibility | The film's niche, low-budget aesthetic and intentionally offensive tone make it highly inaccessible to mainstream audiences. |
