Clear and Present Danger is widely considered the strongest entry in the Jack Ryan trilogy, praised for its complex political intrigue and the principled, grounded performance of Harrison Ford. While the production quality and suspense are highly regarded, the film is often criticized for a sluggish mid-section and a concluding act that sacrifices its earlier realism for implausible spectacle.

Acting Harrison Ford delivers an authentic, principled performance that serves as the anchor for the entire film.
Production The film demonstrates high production values, characterized by quality technical execution, effective Colombian scenery, and immersive atmosphere.
Screenplay The narrative successfully navigates complex political intrigue and internal institutional threats, elevating it above typical action-thriller tropes.
Pacing The three-hour runtime divides opinion: some find the pacing steady and rewarding, while others perceive it as sluggish and overly lengthy.
Ending The conclusion is divisive, with some critics appreciating the resolution of the puzzle while others find it to be an illogical and anticlimactic departure from the film's realistic tone.
