Key opinion
D-Tox is generally viewed as a disappointing thriller that squanders a talented ensemble cast due to a weak, predictable script and uninspired direction. While Sylvester Stallone's performance is often praised as a surprisingly nuanced attempt at drama, the film fails to generate genuine tension or suspense, ultimately feeling like an unremarkable, clichéd production.
| Acting | The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Stallone, Robert Patrick, and Tom Berenger, who are widely regarded as the project's strongest asset. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is criticized for being derivative, formulaic, and predictable, failing to elevate the potential of its premise. | |
| Direction | The direction is consistently faulted for failing to build tension, mishandling the pacing, and ultimately neutralizing the efforts of the talented cast. | |
| Acting | Critics are split on Stallone's lead performance; while some find his portrayal of a grieving, alcoholic agent to be a sincere and standout dramatic effort, others feel he is miscast in a thriller that leans toward unintended parody. |
