Der Schuh des Manitu is a culturally significant German parody that revitalized the genre through a lighthearted, observational approach to Western tropes. While the narrative is intentionally thin and the humor relies heavily on specific regional references, the film is widely regarded as a beloved and highly rewatchable comedy staple.

Originality The film successfully revitalized the parody genre in Germany, achieving massive commercial success that cemented its status as a cultural phenomenon.
Acting The casting is exceptionally strong, with the ensemble of German comedians delivering performances that define the film's enduring charm.
Screenplay The plot is widely considered trivial and forgettable, serving merely as a flimsy vehicle for a sequence of loosely connected gags and Western clichés.
Humor The humor is polarizing; while many find the gags effective and lighthearted, others note that the jokes are deeply tied to specific German cultural dialects and references that fail to translate well for international audiences.
