Key opinion
Disenchanted is widely viewed as a lackluster sequel that fails to recapture the magic and narrative freshness of its predecessor. While Amy Adams receives praise for her commitment to the role, critics generally agree that the film relies too heavily on tired tropes and a hollow script.
| Acting | Amy Adams delivers a committed performance that successfully anchors the film despite the uneven material. | |
| Originality | The film fails to maintain the charm and originality that defined the 2007 original, opting for predictable and derivative plot points. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay relies on superficial characterization and clichéd subplots that struggle to effectively explore the film's intended meta-themes. | |
| Score | The musical numbers divide opinion; some find them bland and unmemorable, while others highlight specific duets as standout moments. |
