Key opinion
Eye for an Eye is a polarizing horror film that pairs a strong atmosphere and creative folklore-based lore with a weak, cliché-ridden narrative. While viewers appreciate its attempt to ground supernatural terror in social reflection, many find the execution repetitive and lacking in genuine scares.
| Production | The production design and regional atmosphere create an immersive, high-quality visual backdrop for the horror elements. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay relies heavily on predictable horror tropes and jump scares, failing to provide a compelling or surprising narrative. | |
| Originality | The inclusion of original, localized folklore surrounding the Sandman provides a fresh conceptual layer to the mythology. | |
| Pacing | The film blends a slow-burn, contemplative pace with standard slasher elements, leaving viewers divided on whether the tempo is atmospheric or tedious. |
