Description
Ferdinand, a little bull, prefers sitting quietly under a cork tree just smelling the flowers versus jumping around, snorting, and butting heads with other bulls. As Ferdinand grows big and strong, his temperament remains mellow. But one day five men come to choose the "biggest, fastest, roughest bull" for the bullfights in Madrid— and Ferdinand is mistakenly chosen.

Key opinion
Ferdinand is widely regarded as a visually vibrant and heartwarming family film that effectively promotes themes of non-violence and self-acceptance. While many viewers praise its humor and technical polish, some critics argue that the narrative is simplistic, relying on predictable tropes and clichéd supporting characters.
| Theme | The film succeeds in delivering a resonant, gentle message advocating for non-violent conflict resolution and kindness. | |
| Production | The animation features high-quality, vivid visuals that beautifully capture the scenery and cultural atmosphere of Spain. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is criticized for being overly simplistic and predictable, failing to provide the character evolution necessary to sustain a feature-length runtime. | |
| Humor | Opinions on the humor are divided; some find the secondary characters like the goat and hedgehogs to be sharp and funny, while others dismiss the comedy as juvenile, crude, or clichéd. |
