Key opinion
Fighting with My Family is a sincere and engaging sports drama that succeeds more as an inspiring family-centric character study than as a profound film about professional wrestling. While the plot follows a predictable "rags to riches" formula, the strong ensemble cast and emotional core keep the audience invested.
| Acting | Florence Pugh anchors the film with a convincing and charismatic lead performance that drives the narrative forward. | |
| Screenplay | The script adheres strictly to conventional sports-movie tropes and predictable success-failure-triumph beats. | |
| Acting | The ensemble cast excels in atypical roles, effectively preventing the story from collapsing into caricature. | |
| Emotion | The film effectively balances light-hearted humor with sincere emotional drama, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere. | |
| Theme | The portrayal of wrestling is viewed as a high-stakes, acrobatic spectacle rather than a sport, leading to disagreement on whether the film is a light comedy or a substantive character-driven drama. |
