Key opinion
Ghost Ship is widely regarded as a visually impressive production that relies heavily on a standout, gruesome opening sequence. While many viewers praise the atmospheric set design, the film's narrative consistency and overall effectiveness as a horror movie remain subjects of significant debate.
| Production | The production design and set pieces effectively recreate a haunting, realistic ocean liner atmosphere. | |
| Originality | The film opens with a visceral, high-impact sequence that significantly outshines the subsequent narrative. | |
| Screenplay | The central plot is frequently dismissed as derivative, relying on predictable horror clichés and unoriginal mystery tropes. | |
| Emotion | Opinions on the film's horror efficacy are divided; some find the atmosphere and supernatural mystery gripping, while others find the film boring and entirely lacking in genuine scares. |
