Key opinion
Goal II: Living the Dream is widely considered an inferior successor to the original film, suffering from a predictable, soap-opera-style script. While football fans appreciate the inclusion of authentic Real Madrid stars and the atmospheric setting of the Santiago Bernabéu, many critics find the actual on-field action unrealistic and the personal drama melodramatic.
| Screenplay | The plot relies on predictable, clichéd tropes that feel more like a shallow soap opera than a grounded sports drama. | |
| Direction | The football sequences suffer from unrealistic depiction and poor integration, often reduced to fragmented shots rather than cohesive, credible gameplay. | |
| Originality | The inclusion of real-life Real Madrid icons like Beckham, Zidane, and Ronaldo provides a nostalgic thrill for fans, even if their presence feels like a promotional cameo. | |
| Acting | Performances by Kuno Becker and the supporting cast elicit divided reactions, ranging from acceptable portrayals to unconvincing, melodramatic acting. | |
| Theme | The shift from the gritty, earned success of the first film to a glamorous, luxury-filled lifestyle divides viewers, with some appreciating the moral lesson on fame and others finding it artificial and devoid of struggle. |
