Grease 2 is a polarizing musical that generally fails to capture the magic of its predecessor for critics, yet it maintains a dedicated cult following. While many find the plot and characters inferior to the original, supporters celebrate the film for its infectious energy and breakout performance by Michelle Pfeiffer.
| Acting | Michelle Pfeiffer's charismatic performance and her rendition of 'Cool Rider' are widely considered the film's standout elements. | |
| Production | The film functions as a lighthearted, colorful, and fun musical experience that effectively captures a 1960s aesthetic. | |
| Screenplay | The plot is frequently criticized for being simplistic, superficial, and lacking the cohesive narrative strength of the original. | |
| Score | Opinions on the musical numbers and choreography are divided: some find them energetic and memorable, while others view them as forgettable and uninspired compared to the first film. | |
| Acting | The effectiveness of the lead cast is a point of contention; some praise the new romantic pairing, while others find the protagonist unexpressive and the character development lacking. |
