Key opinion
Greenland is a polarizing disaster film that trades large-scale spectacle for a character-driven, realistic approach to an apocalyptic scenario. While many viewers appreciate its grounded tone and emotional focus, others find the script cliché, the VFX underwhelming, and the pacing uneven.
| Screenplay | The screenplay relies heavily on predictable disaster movie clichés and lacks original ideas. | |
| Production | The visual effects are frequently criticized for feeling low-budget, unfinished, and unconvincing compared to high-budget genre staples. | |
| Theme | The film leans toward family drama rather than global catastrophe, which creates a split: some appreciate the grounded character focus, while others feel it detracts from the scale of the disaster. | |
| Acting | Gerard Butler's performance is seen as a stabilizing anchor, though some viewers feel he is playing a standard, one-dimensional archetype. | |
| Pacing | The pacing is divisive, with some finding the journey realistic and coherent, while others perceive it as sluggish and filled with boring downtime. |
