Key opinion
Han-San: Rising Dragon is praised as a technically impressive and disciplined historical war film that emphasizes strategic planning and naval spectacle. While the film is lauded for its focused narrative and visual grandeur, some viewers feel it lacks the emotional depth and character complexity found in previous entries.
| Cinematography | The naval battle sequences are visually striking and execute complex fleet movements with impressive clarity. | |
| Acting | The antagonist is portrayed with a menacing, iconic aura that effectively drives the conflict. | |
| Direction | The director maintains a disciplined narrative by stripping away unnecessary melodrama and romance in favor of a focus on strategic preparation. | |
| Pacing | The film strikes a balance between engaging, fast-paced naval combat and a slower, contemplative focus on tactical espionage. | |
| Acting | Disagreement exists over the portrayal of the protagonist, as some find his strategic wisdom compelling while others feel the character lacks the emotional layers present in his previous iterations. |
