Trailers Her Blue Sky

High school student Aoi Aioi lives with her elder sister, Akane, after a tragic accident took their parents away 13 years ago. Because Akane has since been taking care of her single-handedly, Aoi wants to move to Tokyo after her graduation to relieve her sister's burden and pursue a musical career, inspired by Akane's ex-boyfriend Shinnosuke "Shinno" Kanamuro. Shinno was part of a band until he left for Tokyo to become a professional guitarist after the sisters' parents passed away, and he was never to be seen again.

This film is a poignant coming-of-age drama that uses a supernatural time-travel premise to explore themes of sacrifice, unfulfilled ambition, and sibling bonds. While praised for its emotional depth and relatable character arcs, it is often viewed as a derivative work that echoes the stylistic tropes of contemporary anime heavyweights.

Theme The narrative succeeds as a moving exploration of self-sacrifice and the complex emotional bond between two orphaned sisters.
Screenplay Characters are written with a grounded realism that effectively evokes empathy and resonates with viewers on a personal level.
Production The musical elements, including the attention to detail in instrument performance, lend an air of professional authenticity to the story.
Originality The film’s visual style and thematic focus on time-travel romance draw frequent, mixed comparisons to Makoto Shinkai's work, leading some to find it unoriginal.
Pacing Viewers are divided by the film's structure: some appreciate the contemplative build-up, while others find the first half too sluggish to maintain momentum.
