Key opinion
High Life is a polarizing, esoteric science fiction work that challenges audiences with its visceral and abstract exploration of human isolation. While some viewers admire its poetic, cosmic ambition and intense atmosphere, others find the narrative frustratingly abstruse and emotionally detached.
| Cinematography | The film employs haunting, poetic visual imagery to effectively evoke the awe and dread of space. | |
| Originality | The narrative takes a daring, unconventional approach to genre tropes, prioritizing thematic meditation over traditional plot progression. | |
| Theme | The story probes complex and dark intersections between human morality, eroticism, and psychological regression. | |
| Acting | Performances divide viewers between those who see them as subtle reflections of deep space isolation and those who find them entirely emotionless and amateurish. | |
| Screenplay | Opinions on the screenplay vary significantly; some find it a profound, singular meditation, while others dismiss the plot as nonsensical and disjointed. |
