Key opinion
Degree of Risk is a quintessential 90s Hong Kong action film that heavily relies on Die Hard-style tropes and parodies of Jackie Chan. While some viewers find it a fun, nostalgic, and high-energy watch, others criticize it as a shallow, derivative production lacking the charm of the films it emulates.
| Acting | The action choreography is widely praised for its dynamic, realistic, and intense fight sequences. | |
| Screenplay | The film functions as a shameless, derivative pastiche of Die Hard and City Hunter that relies too heavily on borrowing established plot devices. | |
| Originality | The caricature of a Jackie Chan-like character is seen by some as a hilarious and effective parody, while others view it as a cheap and uninspired imitation. | |
| Humor | The film's humor is highly divisive; some find it genuinely funny and laugh-out-loud entertaining, whereas critics feel it lacks substance and genuine comedic wit. | |
| Theme | Opinions on character depth are split; supporters enjoy the fast-paced, star-studded spectacle, while detractors dismiss the film for its shallow characters and lack of emotional weight. |
