Key opinion
Hocus Pocus 2 succeeds as a nostalgic return for fans who delight in seeing the iconic Sanderson sisters reunited. However, the film is hampered by a weaker screenplay and an inconsistent tone that struggles to recapture the dark, magical charm of the 1993 original.
| Acting | The return of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy provides the film's strongest nostalgic appeal and is considered its primary highlight. | |
| Production | The film's visual presentation and production design suffer from a noticeably cheap aesthetic compared to the original, with some sets appearing unconvincing. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is divided between those who appreciate the modern, progressive character updates and those who feel the narrative lacks original ideas and is forced by corporate messaging. | |
| Acting | Opinions on the new young cast are polarized, with some viewers finding them lively and authentic, while others describe them as unconvincing and mismatched. | |
| Humor | The film’s humor is a point of contention; some find it genuinely entertaining for adults and children, while others argue it is largely absent or inferior to the original. |
