Key opinion
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is widely viewed as a decline for the franchise, struggling to match the energy and narrative focus of the earlier installments. While some appreciate its attempt to maintain the series' spirit and conclude character arcs, many critics and viewers find the humor lacking and the plot execution tired.
| Direction | The departure of Genndy Tartakovsky from the director's chair results in a noticeable loss of the series' original creative energy and narrative cohesion. | |
| Screenplay | The script relies on predictable clichés and lacks the sharp, inventive humor that defined the earlier franchise entries. | |
| Acting | Brian Hull's performance as Dracula is a point of contention, with some viewing the replacement of Adam Sandler as a negative impact on character consistency, while others find his portrayal respectful. | |
| Production | The decision to move the setting to the South American jungle is polarizing; some critics feel it diminishes the franchise's established atmosphere, while others appreciate the change of scenery. | |
| Ending | The film acts as a functional, if underwhelming, conclusion that manages to provide some resolution for the character arcs of Dracula and Johnny. |
