Key opinion
Ice Age: Collision Course is widely viewed as a tired, creatively bankrupt conclusion to a fading franchise. While the technical quality of the animation receives praise, critics and audiences agree that the thin plot, repetitive humor, and lack of original ideas make it unengaging for anyone beyond very young children.
| Screenplay | The franchise has suffered a significant decline in narrative quality, with the plot feeling forced, illogical, and devoid of the heart found in the original film. | |
| Humor | The humor is frequently criticized as juvenile, relying too heavily on vulgar, repetitive gags that lack the sharpness of earlier installments. | |
| Production | The technical execution and visual fidelity remain high, featuring polished 3D graphics and realistic character design that improve upon previous entries. | |
| Acting | The character of Buck is consistently highlighted as a rare bright spot that maintains audience interest amidst an otherwise bland and bloated cast. | |
| Originality | Scrat's antics divide viewers: some find his space-faring slapstick a highlights, while others view his repetitive journey as a sign of creative desperation. |
