Key opinion
Junior is a polarizing 1990s comedy that is widely praised for the bold and tender performances of its lead duo but criticized for its uneven screenplay and absurd premise. While some audiences find the film a charming and heartfelt exploration of empathy and gender roles, others perceive it as a shallow farce hampered by weak scientific logic.
| Acting | Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito demonstrate exceptional comic chemistry that grounds the bizarre premise. | |
| Acting | Schwarzenegger succeeds in making a potentially ridiculous role feel surprisingly vulnerable, sincere, and physically convincing. | |
| Emotion | The film is caught between being a lighthearted comedy and a sentimental drama, leaving viewers divided on whether the tone is touching or disjointed. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay relies on clichéd scientific pseudo-logic and thin narrative depth, leading some to view it as a hollow exercise. | |
| Originality | The film divides viewers on its originality; some celebrate the bold, high-concept premise as a daring satire of gender roles, while others find the execution of the humor to be strained and absurd. |
