Key opinion
Ridley Scott's 'Legend' is widely regarded as a visual masterpiece, celebrated for its immersive production design, practical effects, and Tim Curry’s iconic performance as the Lord of Darkness. However, the film is frequently criticized for its thin screenplay, lack of character depth, and a narrative pace that many viewers find sluggish.
| Production | The production design, makeup, and practical creature effects create an exquisitely detailed and immersive fairy-tale world. | |
| Acting | Tim Curry delivers a masterful and menacing performance that serves as the film's strongest anchor. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay suffers from a simplistic, underdeveloped good-versus-evil narrative that struggles to sustain interest. | |
| Acting | Tom Cruise's performance as the forest hero is polarizing, with some finding it charming and others viewing it as miscast or bland. | |
| Pacing | The film's pacing is a subject of debate; some find the contemplative, atmosphere-heavy tempo enchanting, while others find the lack of action-driven momentum exhausting. |
