Key opinion
Little Black Book is a polarizing romantic comedy that suffers from a disjointed narrative and cynical tone. While many critics and viewers find the plot thin or unpleasant, some appreciate Brittany Murphy's charismatic performance and the film's lighter, whimsical moments.
| Acting | Brittany Murphy delivers an expressive and charismatic lead performance that anchors the film even when the script falters. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is criticized for relying on superficial, tabloid-style melodrama and lacking a coherent or grounded narrative structure. | |
| Theme | The film’s tone is subject to debate, split between those who view it as a fresh, pleasant diversion and those who find its cynical exploration of relationships and careerism unappealing. |
