Key opinion
Memory is widely regarded as a formulaic and unremarkable entry in Liam Neeson's late-career filmography. While some viewers appreciate Neeson's committed performance, most critics find the plot predictable, the supporting characters thin, and the utilization of the protagonist's Alzheimer's diagnosis to be shallow and underdeveloped.
| Acting | Liam Neeson delivers a magnetic and committed performance that stands out as the primary reason to watch the film. | |
| Originality | The plot is highly derivative, following the well-worn beats of Neeson's other retired-action-hero vehicles. | |
| Acting | Supporting characters, including those played by Guy Pearce and Monica Bellucci, are one-dimensional and feel underutilized. | |
| Theme | The film fails to effectively integrate the protagonist's Alzheimer's diagnosis into the narrative, treating it as a superficial gimmick rather than a source of psychological depth. | |
| Pacing | Opinions on the film's pacing and tone are divided; some see it as a functional, grounded crime thriller, while others find the slow tempo and lack of menace to be exhausting and dull. |
