Key opinion
Metegol is widely regarded as a visually competent animated feature that suffers from a disjointed and morally questionable screenplay. While the animation quality is frequently praised, the lackluster character development and uninspired narrative prevent it from reaching the heights of top-tier studio productions.
| Production | The animation quality is technically impressive and visually accomplished, standing as a highlight of the production. | |
| Screenplay | The film features a largely uninspired and predictable script that relies on recycled tropes and disjointed plot threads. | |
| Acting | Protagonist Amadeo fails to resonate with viewers, often coming across as an unappealing, scatterbrained figure rather than a charismatic hero. | |
| Humor | The humor is consistently weak and forced, failing to provide substantial laughs for either children or adults. | |
| Theme | The film’s moral messaging is viewed as highly questionable, with some critics arguing it rewards laziness and paints diligence in a negative light. | |
| Pacing | Some viewers find the film to be an enjoyable, nostalgic experience, while others perceive it as a boring, overly long effort that lacks emotional engagement. |
