Ethan Hunt and his team are racing against time to track down a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States. An attempt to stop him ends in an explosion causing severe destruction to the Kremlin and the IMF to be implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to disavow them. No longer being aided by the government, Ethan and his team chase Hendricks around the globe, although they might still be too late to stop a disaster.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is widely regarded as a high point for the franchise, revitalizing the series with inventive stunts and a shift toward a more balanced, team-oriented dynamic. While some critics argue the screenplay is thin or formulaic, the film is generally praised for its effective blend of humor, high-stakes spectacle, and confident direction.

Originality The Dubai tower sequence serves as a standout, death-defying centerpiece that defines the film's commitment to high-stakes practical spectacle.
Acting The shift toward a more collaborative ensemble dynamic, bolstered by strong chemistry between Cruise, Pegg, and Renner, effectively reduces the reliance on Ethan Hunt as a solitary superman.
Direction Brad Bird’s direction brings a lively, rhythmic energy that successfully balances tense, globe-trotting action with character-driven humor.
Screenplay The narrative is frequently criticized for being a collection of generic thriller tropes and arbitrary plot twists rather than a substantial story.
Pacing Opinions on the film's length are divided; some find the pacing exhilarating, while others argue the runtime feels stretched and overly reliant on action sequences.
