Key opinion
Moonraker is a polarizing, high-budget spectacle that leans heavily into 1970s science-fiction trends. While many praise its impressive technical ambition and entertainment value, others criticize the film for its farcical tone, derivative plot, and lack of genuine narrative stakes.
| Production | The visual effects and grand-scale production design provide a technically ambitious spectacle that stands out within the series. | |
| Score | John Barry’s musical score effectively enhances the atmosphere and remains one of the film's consistent highlights. | |
| Acting | Roger Moore’s portrayal of Bond is viewed as competent, though some critics find his performance static and increasingly uninspired. | |
| Humor | The film’s tone is a subject of debate: fans appreciate its light-hearted, self-ironic, and campy humor, while detractors argue it descends into unintentional farce and silliness. | |
| Pacing | The pacing suffers from inconsistent momentum, with exciting action sequences often interrupted by lengthy, uneventful stretches. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is criticized for being a derivative "Star Wars" cash-in that lacks original narrative depth or genuine threat. |
