Key opinion
Mystère à Saint-Tropez is a polarizing homage to classic 1970s French slapstick that prioritizes nostalgic farce over narrative complexity. While it succeeds as a visual and performance-driven tribute to icons like Louis de Funès, it is frequently criticized for its reliance on repetitive or lowbrow humor.
| Production | Meticulous attention to period hair, costumes, and set pieces successfully transports the audience to the glamorous atmosphere of 1970s Saint-Tropez. | |
| Acting | The film functions as a talented showcase for veteran French comedians who appear to be genuinely delighted by the material. | |
| Screenplay | The plot abandons intricate mystery in favor of a straightforward, farcical structure that lacks depth. | |
| Humor | The comedic style is divisive; some viewers appreciate the lighthearted homage to classic slapstick legends, while others find the gags recycled and intellectually lazy. | |
| Acting | The portrayal of the protagonist's extreme stupidity is polarizing, with opinions split on whether it remains an endearing comedic trait or becomes an exhausting caricature by the climax. |
