Key opinion
Ninja Assassin is a polarizing stylistic exercise that prioritizes visceral, blood-soaked martial arts sequences over narrative substance. While fans praise its relentless energy and innovative fight choreography, detractors dismiss the film as a hollow, poorly written disaster with distractingly artificial visual effects.
| Acting | The fight choreography is widely viewed as the film's strongest asset, featuring intense, stylized violence and acrobatic precision. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is consistently criticized for being simplistic, predictable, and burdened by clichéd characters. | |
| Production | The reliance on excessive CGI and artificial-looking blood creates a disconnect, with some finding it brutal and effective while others label it cheap and catastrophically bad. | |
| Cinematography | Opinions on the visual presentation are divided; some praise the dark, atmospheric aesthetic and innovative wide shots, while others complain that the cinematography is too dim and obscures the action. | |
| Pacing | The fast-paced, relentless tempo is celebrated by action enthusiasts as a non-stop thrill ride, but dismissed by others as a lack of meaningful structure. |
