Key opinion
Poker Face is generally considered a disjointed and underwhelming directorial effort from Russell Crowe. While its high-end production design and aesthetic visuals receive some praise, the film suffers from a lack of narrative cohesion and an underdeveloped, messy script.
| Production | The production design and cinematography create an elegant, visually polished atmosphere that stands out despite the narrative flaws. | |
| Acting | Russell Crowe's lead performance is widely seen as the film's strongest asset, though opinions vary on whether his acting alone is sufficient to save the project. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is criticized for being fragmented and failing to unify its disparate subplots, such as the heist and existential drama. | |
| Direction | The film's direction is widely viewed as uneven, struggling to blend multiple genres into a coherent or tense viewing experience. | |
| Pacing | Opinions on the pacing divide viewers; some find the meditative, character-focused tempo rewarding, while others view it as lacking tension and failing to sustain momentum. |
