Key opinion
Push is generally viewed as a visually distinct but narratively disjointed science fiction film that relies heavily on its cast to sustain interest. While its unique aesthetic and atmosphere earn praise from some, the convoluted plot and inconsistent execution leave many viewers feeling alienated.
| Acting | Dakota Fanning provides a consistently strong and compelling performance that anchors the otherwise thin character work. | |
| Cinematography | The cinematography and visual style create a kinetic, atmospheric, and unique aesthetic that distinguishes the film from typical superhero blockbusters. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is widely criticized for being fragmented, confusing, and lacking a coherent internal logic regarding the characters' motivations and powers. | |
| Pacing | Viewer engagement with the narrative is divided; some find the complex, puzzle-like structure intriguing, while others find it needlessly exhausting and incoherent. | |
| Production | The quality of the production design and special effects is polarized, with some appreciating the gritty, grounded visual choices and others dismissing the results as amateurish or dated. |
