Key opinion
Red Eye is widely regarded as a lean, effective, and claustrophobic thriller that thrives on the intense chemistry between its two leads. While audiences praise the brisk pacing and Wes Craven's masterful use of confined space, the film faces criticism for its third-act shift into more conventional and occasionally illogical action beats.
| Acting | Cillian Murphy delivers a chilling and nuanced performance that seamlessly transitions from charming stranger to ruthless antagonist. | |
| Direction | Wes Craven effectively utilizes the tight, claustrophobic setting of an airplane to maintain relentless tension throughout the film. | |
| Runtime | The 80-to-85-minute runtime provides a breathless, streamlined experience that wastes no time in establishing stakes. | |
| Acting | Rachel McAdams' performance divides opinion, with some viewers finding her portrayal of the protagonist vulnerable and compelling, while others perceive it as limited or reliant on genre archetypes. | |
| Screenplay | The script is lauded for its ingenious, Hitchcockian premise, yet is frequently criticized for devolving into implausible scenarios and illogical character decisions in the final act. |
