Key opinion
Runaway Bride is generally viewed as a pleasant, if predictable, romantic comedy that leans heavily on the chemistry between Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. While some audiences find it a nostalgic and charming comfort watch, others feel it lacks the spark and depth of the duo's previous collaborations.
| Acting | The undeniable chemistry between Julia Roberts and Richard Gere remains the film's strongest asset and primary draw. | |
| Screenplay | The plot follows a predictable, conventional rom-com structure that offers little in terms of narrative surprise. | |
| Originality | The film fails to capture the same magical atmosphere or critical acclaim achieved by the pair's previous work, 'Pretty Woman'. | |
| Pacing | Views on the pacing are split; some appreciate the light, wholesome tempo, while others find the film sluggish, dull, and prone to awkward pauses. | |
| Humor | The comedic tone is divisive, with some finding the film funny and charming while others perceive the humor as clumsy, dry, or nonexistent. |
