Key opinion
Sleep (2023) is a divisive genre film that blends elements of horror, mystery, and dark humor to explore domestic tensions. While some viewers praise its surreal atmosphere and unique take on the thriller genre, others find its thematic ambitions unconvincing and its attempts at blending horror with comedy ineffective.
| Originality | The film adopts a surreal, mystical approach that distinguishes it from more predictable entries in the horror genre. | |
| Theme | The narrative premise regarding domestic anxiety and the pressures of new parenthood is interpreted as either a clever psychological layer or an unconvincing and forced subtext. | |
| Humor | The film attempts a horror-comedy hybrid style, yet viewers are deeply divided on whether these comedic elements successfully land or fall flat. |
