Key opinion
Sleeping with Other People is a modest, mature rom-com that finds favor with audiences looking for relatable adult dynamics but loses others with its predictable plot and uneven comedic tone. While the chemistry between the leads is widely praised, the reliance on endless dialogue about sex is perceived by some as tedious rather than clever.
| Acting | Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie exhibit natural, charming chemistry that grounds the central relationship. | |
| Screenplay | The script favors honest, mature dialogue about adult intimacy over traditional genre tropes. | |
| Originality | The narrative follows a highly predictable trajectory that offers little innovation for seasoned rom-com viewers. | |
| Humor | The film's humor is divisive; some find the sex-centric banter witty and pragmatic, while others find the jokes repetitive and lacking in genuine hilarity. |
