Key opinion
Strays is a divisive raunchy comedy that uses realistic CGI-talking dogs to explore themes of pet-owner relationships and self-discovery. While some viewers enjoy its blend of heart and vulgar humor, others find the reliance on persistent shock value and crude jokes to be repetitive and off-putting.
| Production | The seamless blend of realistic CGI and expressive animation brings the canine characters to life convincingly. | |
| Acting | Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx provide energetic and witty voice performances that elevate the material. | |
| Humor | The reliance on constant vulgarity and toilet humor feels excessive to many, overshadowing the film's potential for genuine emotional depth. | |
| Theme | The film's tone sits in a tug-of-war between a sentimental story of friendship and a crude, shock-heavy script that alienates viewers looking for a balanced comedy. | |
| Screenplay | Opinions on the narrative structure are split, with some praising the smooth flow of the adventure, while others find the constant profanity-filled dialogue repetitive and static. |
