Key opinion
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay is widely regarded as a superior execution of the Suicide Squad concept compared to its live-action counterpart. It succeeds by embracing a darker, R-rated tone, effectively utilizing a deep roster of comic book villains, and maintaining tight ties to the DC animated continuity.
| Originality | The film succeeds as an R-rated adaptation by embracing visceral violence, gore, and profanity that better reflects the source material. | |
| Theme | The narrative effectively portrays the squad members as genuine, ruthless villains rather than sanitized anti-heroes. | |
| Adaptation | The film features a dense and rewarding integration of DC comic book lore and shared continuity through its character roster and plot connections. | |
| Screenplay | The inclusion of interpersonal character dynamics and family values subplots divides viewers, with some finding them unnecessary additions to the action. |
