Key opinion
Teaching Mrs. Tingle is a divisive teen dark comedy defined almost entirely by Helen Mirren's commanding lead performance. While some viewers enjoy the unpredictable plot and blend of genres, others find the script clichéd and the tonal shifts between thriller and comedy ineffective.
| Acting | Helen Mirren delivers a superb and commanding performance that consistently anchors the film. | |
| Screenplay | The film utilizes an engaging and twist-heavy narrative that keeps the audience guessing. | |
| Acting | Opinions on Katie Holmes's performance are sharply divided; she is praised by some as charming and competent, while others label her acting as monotonous, bland, or lifeless. | |
| Originality | The attempt to balance dark thriller elements with teen comedy creates a tonal clash that succeeds for some as an inventive genre blend, but fails for others as a jarring or mediocre execution. |
