Key opinion
The Accountant 2 is generally viewed as an inferior follow-up that abandons the restrained, cerebral tone of its predecessor for a more conventional and fragmented action-thriller style. While critics and audiences remain polarized by its shift toward humor and a "buddy-cop" dynamic, the chemistry between Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal is widely considered the film's strongest asset.
| Acting | Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal demonstrate strong, engaging chemistry that provides a necessary anchor for the film's narrative. | |
| Screenplay | The screenplay is heavily criticized for its inconsistent tone, struggling to balance action, emotional drama, and comedy, with many finding the humor forced or disrespectful toward the protagonist's condition. | |
| Pacing | The plot is perceived as disjointed and bloated, with many viewers finding the narrative structure inferior to the focused, suspenseful mystery of the original film. | |
| Adaptation | The film's tone is divisive; some viewers appreciate it as a fun, "agenda-free" action romp, while others feel it betrays the cold, intellectual, and grounded premise of the first entry. |
