Description
A young Donald Trump, eager to make his name as a hungry scion of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn, the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today. Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé—someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

Key opinion
The Apprentice is widely praised for the commanding performances of Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, who anchor a visually evocative portrait of Donald Trump's rise. While the film's technical craftsmanship and acting are highly regarded, critical opinion on the screenplay remains split between those who find it a compelling study of ambition and those who view it as an underdeveloped or uneven biographical effort.
| Acting | Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong deliver transformative, powerhouse performances that capture the complex mentor-protégé dynamic. | |
| Production | The production design and cinematography effectively recreate the gritty, neon-soaked atmosphere of 1970s and 80s New York through grain and period-accurate aesthetics. | |
| Screenplay | The narrative's focus on Trump's business rise succeeds, but fails to provide sufficient depth to his personal relationships, particularly with Ivana Trump. | |
| Screenplay | The episodic structure and script are viewed by some as a compelling exploration of moral decay, while others find the storytelling to be standard and unmemorable. |
