Key opinion
The Astronaut's Wife is a polarizing psychological thriller that blends sci-fi elements with domestic dread, often compared to Rosemary's Baby. While some viewers praise the hypnotic performances and taut atmosphere, others criticize the thin, derivative script and lackluster ending.
| Ending | The film fails to deliver a satisfying or coherent resolution, leaving many viewers frustrated by a clumsy and abrupt finale. | |
| Screenplay | The script is widely criticized for being thin, derivative, and padded with empty dialogue, relying heavily on tropes seen in superior genre films. | |
| Acting | Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron elicit divided reactions, with some praising their hypnotic and intense presence, while others find their chemistry lacking or their performances overacted. | |
| Direction | Rand Ravich's direction is a point of contention; some admire his ability to sustain a tense, disorienting psychological atmosphere, while others view it as an amateurish and confusing debut effort. |
