The Babysitter is widely regarded as an ineffective and tedious thriller that fails to build meaningful suspense or erotic tension. Despite Alicia Silverstone's presence, the film is criticized for its absurd narrative and its inability to transcend the exploitative nature of its premise.

Screenplay The narrative suffers from a nonsensical and absurd plot that lacks the genuine tension required for a compelling thriller.
Emotion The film fails to generate credible erotic or fatal tension, resulting in a hollow experience that lacks the stakes it attempts to establish.
Acting Alicia Silverstone provides a competent performance that is ultimately underutilized and insufficient to elevate the poor material.
Direction Critics are divided on the film's artistic intent; some view it as a failed attempt to craft a serious psychological study of male obsession, while others dismiss it as a poorly executed, porn-like exercise in director-driven fantasies.
Pacing The film's pacing is widely considered dull and sleep-inducing, failing to maintain viewer engagement throughout its runtime.
